Overall Reflection

Initially when we first introduced to this project, it felt a little overwhelming because we were gonna be paired with a person we most likely not know. Since I'm an ambivert (more slightly inclined to introvert), I felt a little awkward. I then learnt that I was paired with Agueda as my partner. We had to rush going through half of the questions that we were provided with because the lecture in the afternoon only left us with half an hour to do the task. We decided to continue through WhatsApp and then planned what each of us could bring after learning facts about one another.

The next day, we had Rachel join us because she didn't have a partner. We sat down for a little bit to get to know her and also exchange what Agueda and I learnt about each other previously. We then decided who should photograph who before we started shooting. I was photographing Agueda still, Rachel photographed me and Agueda for Rachel. I started with Agueda in the cafe because she was a barista and had a love for coffee. I tried to play with some plastic film to use a physical effect but it wasn't the most effective. I then moved her to the stairwell to take photos of her with one of her favourite jackets which consists of her fave rock band- AC/DC. We decided to walk around Camberwell to see more places to do photoshoots. I chose to do it outside the church by a tree with the autumn leaves as Agueda loved nature a lot growing up. We also did it outside a cafe at one of their side tables as I thought it would suit her barista background. After that, we worked in the hallway of our studios for more photos and played with lighting and poses. In most photos, I wanted to show her smiling as I saw her as someone as smiley, approachable and friendly. I got her to smile by just asking her to act naturally, we conversed and made jokes so I could capture her candidly to get the best emotions. I also wanted to show her growing confidence she has which she's built over the years. By the end of the day, I had hundreds of photos of Agueda but Wendy said to all of us that we could do better and experiment more.

We decided as a 3 to meet up the next day at Canary Wharf for additional photoshoot pictures. I told Agueda to roughly dress the same and bring a few of the same items we used the day before ie her coffee cup. We decided to go to the park in Canary Wharf at first and thankfully it was good, sunny weather so we had good lighting. I had Agueda sit by a tree with her coffee cup since I thought that composition and atmosphere really worked the day before. The lighting was really nice against her with some shadows casted from the tree leaves. After this location, we moved to a roof garden in that area for more potential photos which I did take a few but I didn't feel they worked as effective as the first location of the day.

Next, we had to narrow down to the best photo and 4 secondary photos. We had a walk around exhibition on Thursday and went around to write feedback for people as part of the Criticism. Unfortunately, only the front page of my feedback sheet got filled so I missed out on other critical feedback. I felt like this was a project I didn't particular enjoy or think was super successful. I was glad that from the first page of feedback that the viewers saw what I was trying to communicate of Agueda's personality. I probably could have just focus on just one specific aspect of her personality than multiple cause I tried to do it in most of these and that may be why they weren't super successful.

Confirm copying
